An impressive and exceptionally large burr walnut extending oval dining table, attributed to Arthur Brett, beautifully crafted in the Regency style and offering remarkable versatility for both formal dining and entertaining.
The magnificent oval top is veneered in richly figured burr walnut, displaying superb grain patterns and warm, golden-brown tones. The surface is further enhanced by a broad contrasting crossbanded border, outlined with fine stringing, which follows the elegant oval shape of the table.
The table stands on a substantial and beautifully constructed base, featuring decorative carved supports with lattice detailing, united by sweeping curved stretchers with moulded decoration. Elegant outswept legs terminate in brass paw feet, completing the classical design.
Supplied with ten additional leaves, the table can be dramatically extended from an already generous 278cm to an extraordinary 450cm in length, with the width increasing from 191cm to 314cm. This makes it an exceptional centrepiece for a grand dining room, country house or substantial entertaining space.
